THE DISTRACTION TEST



A fun test for you at the end of a busy year

If you are in any doubt about your own level of distraction after reading the previous post, take this quick test.

Simply answer yes or no to the following 10 questions:


  1. Do you respond every time an email ‘pops’ into your inbox?

  1. Do you take your mobile ‘device’ everywhere you go?


  1. Do you find it hard to settle down and read a whole book?

  1. Are you finding that you remember very little detail after you have read a series of online messages or articles?


  1. Are you having difficulty prioritising and cutting down on all the possible work you could do?

  1. Do you ever feel that you have started lots of things and are exhausted but you haven’t finished anything?


  1. Do you feel frustrated when you can’t access your computer/device?

  1. Do you feel you are becoming more impatient, bored or irritated more easily?


  1. Are you feeling that you need to become better at multi-tasking?

  1. Do you ever find people looking to you for a response but you haven’t heard the question?

Count up the yes scores and read the following:

If you were distracted during this short test, add another 3 points.





Score:

1-3    You are in control. Your devices serve you.


3-6    You are at risk of being driven to distraction. You can still turn back.


6-10  It is probably too late to avoid withdrawal symptoms. You need to deal   with your addiction to activities that could be causing you to be driven to distraction. See the next blog posting.
